How Much Training Do You Need to Benefit from Data Analytics?

19100406One of the questions that recently came up during TMA’s free webinar was just how much training is truly necessary to get real benefits from data analysis. And, as in most things, when you’re talking about data the answer is, “It depends on what you want to do.”

Modern software offers a business intelligence analyst the ability to draw insights from data without forcing that person to get deeply involved in the mathematical algorithms underpinning the process. As long as you are trained enough to use and understand the software you should be able to gain basic insights about your data.

The key is to apply good models the right way. You don’t necessarily want to get involved with tinkering with the math in the hopes of building a better model.

Instead, you need enough training to become a good solution designer. Companies need individuals who can get answers to the questions that will meet real organizational objectives. Good algorithm building is secondary to this need.

The amount of training that you need to become that solutions designer truly depends on what those objectives are. You can do some basic data queries that glean important information without getting too deep in the weeds. However, if your business objectives demand a level of analytics that requires you to assess patterns or create projections then you will need the kind of in-depth training that The Modeling Agency provides.

Getting involved with the TMA webinar should help you determine whether or not you need to take additional training courses to help your company use its data to its best advantage. Register today to determine what you will need to do to make the most of your data.
