PREDICTIVE ANALYTICS FOR THE ENTERPRISE

CORE CONCEPTS

A Foundation for Actionable Analytics
Four-Hour Preparatory Orientation
Prerequisite for All Predictive Analytics for the Enterprise Courses
INFORMS Professional Development Units: 4

ACQUIRE THE BASICS AHEAD OF CLASS

This preparatory session establishes a baseline understanding of the introductory material required to hit the ground running in the highly interactive Predictive Analytics for the Enterprise courseware. By viewing this initial lecture in advance of the live training session, participants will be prepared to proceed directly into the lecture / demo / break-out session / discussion cycle format. In addition, those attending the Strategic Implementation course will not be exposed to the same foundational material at the start of each independent course within the series.

This presentation is an asynchronous lecture that may be viewed at your leisure. It is an independent prerequisite module and not representative of the delivery style of the interactive classroom or live online training. Core Concepts conveys a solid foundation to those new to predictive modeling while initiating a mind-shift for actionable analytics to those who already have experience in data mining. Core Concepts allows for more coverage and momentum in the Predictive Analytics for the Enterprise courseware.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE

    • ALL PREDICTIVE ANALYTICS FOR THE ENTERPRISE COURSE REGISTRANTS in order to arrive with a general overview and solid baseline underfoot, ready to dive directly into the interactive work-along sessions of the classroom or online productions
    • TRAINING EVALUATORS who wish to more closely verify that the general content and approach is aligned with their training objectives prior to registering for the fee-based classroom or online events
    • TECHNOLOGY INVESTIGATORS who seek an efficient orientation to actionable analytics to prioritize the practice among other organizational business intelligence objectives
    • THE ANALYTICALLY CURIOUS who desire additional perspectives on the topic

UPON COMPLETION, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

    • Start the mind shift from a traditional tactical emphasis to a strategic focus for actionable analytics
    • Outline and understand the four stages of the low-risk / high-impact Incremental Development Strategy
    • Identify and understand the Three-Step Project Design and the Four Core Analytic Project Types
    • Define basic performance metrics and behaviors of interest
    • Understand the basic factors in qualifying and prioritizing organizational analytic opportunities
    • Recognize primary strategic and tactical pitfalls that plague the majority of analytic implementations
    • Proceed efficiently into any course within Predictive Analytics for the Enterprise course series with the required baseline knowledge

Attendee Comments

“The presentation from Tony Rathburn was without exaggeration the best I have heard from modelling practitioners in the 20 years I have been a data miner.”

Warwick Graco
Senior Director Operational Analytics
Australian Taxation Office

“Tony is a dynamic presenter with many years of relevant experience. I enjoyed his presentations, and his passion about transforming the way that people think about data mining and predictive analytics.”

Eric Vajentic
Senior Business Analyst
Cerner Corporation

“This class gives the Statistician a bunch of new tools to use in solving business problems. Once the limitations of statistics are reached, grab this data mining tool belt. You will be surprised how much further you can get.”

Raymond D. Mooring, PhD
Wage and Investment Research
Internal Revenue Service

“Upon taking TMA’s Predictive Analytics courses, I could immediately feel the difference since I struggled earlier with a similar online course offered by an established public university. There is no comparison between the dedicated, interactive instructor-led course and an online class. The added benefit is an end-to-end data mining process that insists on actionable results–those that are truly understood by leadership.”

Michael F.
Senior Analyst

“The instructor and course material are first rate. Any organization that believes data mining should be a part of their business operations portfolio would be making a wise investment by attending this course.”

Eric Rickard
Information Computing Sciences
SRI International

“The instructor was great and the instructor was very knowledgeable. It was just at the right level, not to general and not too technical.”
